Second Consecutive Year of Record Results at Cleeve Sixth Form!
Students at Cleeve School Sixth Form are celebrating a record set of examination results for the second year running.
These results include superb performances at the level of the very highest grades, with 34% of all entries achieving either a grade A*, A or equivalent. This constitutes a further improvement on last year’s record results and reflects the school’s very high ambitions for all of our students.
An excellent 60% of all exam entries were graded A*-B which is the highest the school has achieved at this important threshold level. Also pleasing was the pass rate at A-Level which was an extremely high 99.4%.
In summary, for the 118 students that completed their Sixth Form studies this year:
- 34 % of all entries gained A*-A or equivalent
- 60 % of all entries gained A*-B or equivalent
- 80 % of all entries gained A*-C or equivalent
- 99.4 % of all entries gained A*-E or equivalent
Assistant Principal, Ben Slatter was delighted with the results and stated:
“These record results are a testament to the hard work of both our students and the staff at school who have supported them over the two years. We are very proud of the students and the exceptional pathways they are moving on to. The results also corroborate the very positive messages about the Sixth Form Centre from our recent OFSTED inspection.”
Whilst we are very proud of the achievements of all of our students, within these results there are some exceptional individual performances that deserve particular mention. For example the best overall result was achieved by Leah White, who achieved three A* grades and will be studying Chemical Engineering at Bath next year. The highest performance by a male student was Aaron Elliott who achieved two A* grades and one A grade. Aaron will be off to study Mathematics at Birmingham University.
Once more our vocational qualifications in Sport, Business and Health and Social Care have been incredibly successful this year with the following students achieving three Distinction* grades or higher (equivalent to 3A* at A-Level):
Hannah Berry, Amy Bott, Oliver Brown, Cariss Davies- Bishop, Charlotte Holder, Jordan Lawrence, Chloe Lodge, Charlotte Maisey, Anabelle Richardson, Ella Sharpe, Katie Towell, Lauren Wheeler, Emily White.
As well as the results mentioned above, we are extremely proud of a number of students who have overcome significant hurdles throughout their time at Sixth Form and have showed great resilience and attitude in order to achieve successful results this summer.
Alwyn Richards, Principal of Cleeve School, said:
‘These are an excellent set of examination results. The important A-Level attainment at the A*-B threshold was 54% in 2015, 58% in 2016 and 60% in 2017. These year-on-year improved outcomes reflect our continued high ambitions for our school and for our students. We feel very excited about our future and particularly so at a time when our new Sixth Form Centre of Excellence is being built. This development symbolises the school’s very high aspirations for every student, starting in Year 7 and progressing through to the Sixth Form.
Well done to all the staff who have worked so hard and very special congratulations to all of the students who have achieved so wonderfully well and now have so much to look forward to as they embark on the next stages of their lives’.
