Business and Enterprise

Students who are keen to learn about business are encouraged

to enter competitions and to take part in schemes such as Fair

Traders. Some also have the chance to run their own businesses,

allowing them to develop key life skills.

Sixth Form Council

Student opinion is valued and respected at Cleeve. The Sixth

Form Council has more than 20 members who represent the

student voice within the school and work with staff to improve the

Sixth Form experience. Several debating groups have also been

established, giving students the opportunity to sharpen their skills

of argument and persuasion.

“I found the trip

to Geneva and

particularly to

CERN very

interesting. It

was fun but I

also felt that I came

away with a greater understanding

of the facility and its research. The

trip made me think about future

employment as well as further

education.”

“The Jaguar Land

Rover visit was

extremely

useful as

it applied

the theory

I have learnt

within Business

Studies and Systems & Control

to a real life example. Seeing the

production methods and strategies

in action gave me an insight into

the environment I hope to work in

moving forward.”

“As Leader of the

Sixth Form

Student Council,

I have been

given the

opportunity

to develop

leadership skills

as well as have a

positive impact on student life. As

a council we have organised a

number of charity initiatives and

are in the process of launching a

Sixth Form Mentoring Programme

to provide trained Sixth Form

mentors to be used within the

school’s college system.”
